Amazon river dolphin has a long and plump body, with coloration that varies with age. Newborns have a dark grey tint, which fades into light grey during adolescence and turns pink in adults due to repeated abrasion of the skin surface. They have long, thin snouts which can contain up to 140 teeth. There is a ridge on their back instead of a dorsal fin.
These dolphins are very playful, often playing with logs, pulling at underwater grass, and playing with turtles and other aquatic animals. They are definitely not choosy with their food, as their diet is the most diverse among the toothed whales consisting of 53 different species of fish.
