Sustainable practices include precise application timing, appropriate fertilizer types, and advanced technologies like controlled-release fertilizers and precision agriculture tools that help manage and reduce nitrogen runoff.

    The broader goal of sustainable nitrogen management is to achieve a balance where crop productivity and environmental health coexist harmoniously. This involves integrated approaches that combine soil testing, crop rotation, organic amendments, and cover cropping to enhance soil fertility and reduce dependency on synthetic fertilizers.
