    Source and Calculation

    Shapefiles of terrestrial species’ extent of occurrence are sourced from the IUCN Red List, BirdLife International and the Global Assessment of Reptile Distributions Initiative, and used to create country lists of terrestrial species. Global Red List assessments are sourced from the IUCN Red List. A minimum score is given to a country that has 50% or more of its assessed species in one of the three threatened categories (Vulnerable, Endangered, Critically Endangered).
