Dactylopsila – Trioks
Nocturnal, arboreal & insectivore marsupials
The members of this genus mainly live in Australia and New Guinea. They are arboreal, live in lowland tropical rainforests, and prefer vine forests, riparian woodlands, and monsoon lands. The members of the genus also possess characteristic pungent scents which may act as a predator deterrent and might play a role in the social communication of the species.
Their diet mainly consists of insects, fruits, and vegetables; their feeding activity is very noisy, and they can be easily found by the sound they make during chewing and drinking in the forest. They communicate mainly through vocalization and, in some cases, through chemical modes.
