Population

The striped possum is interestingly black with three white stripes that run from its head to its tail. On its head, it has a white stripe that forms a ‘Y’ shape that is somehow related to the sugar glider and has a similar appearance.

It lives in the rainforests and eucalypt woodland along with the east coast of the Cape York Peninsula and as far south as Townsville in Queensland, Australia. This possum is more commonly found in New Guinea and other small islands in the area. This species is also one of the least known marsupials but is not considered Threatened.
