Tylototriton verrucosus

A recently discovered genus of Asian newts is commonly known as knobby newts

Wilfried Berns

Brown or black is the hue of crocodile newts, but they might have orange coloring along their oval head, tail, and limbs.

When contrasted to the rest of the body, the tail usually has lighter color. Males are often smaller than females in size. These newts can be found in mountain woods near lakes, pools, and streams. They appear to prefer high-altitude regions. Due to their popularity in the illegal pet trade, crocodile newts are frequently over-collected from the wild.
