Carlito – Philippine tarsier
If human eyes were of the equal relative size their eyes, they would be as big as grapefruits!
Bad news: it is one of the world’s cutest & smallest primates. They have short, soft fur in different shades of brown, sometimes with reddish or grey hues. Their eyes are fixed on the skull, so they cannot move them. Therefore, they can move their head 180° in each direction, the greatest angle of any mammal.
These animals are shy as well as nocturnal, and they lead a mostly hidden life. During the day, they sleep in dark hollows close to the ground, shrubs, and near tree trunks. They forage at night and prey on insects, spiders, birds, lizards, and other small vertebrates.
